Introduction In early 1970s, the mass production of computer and video games became a common theme in most developed countries. However, their popularity was accompanied by as much contention. Fuelled by the ever increasing popularity of the industry and the economic significance of the information technology industry, negative findings such as gaming addiction, epilepsy, and violent crime, has been the subject of debate. On the other hand, many scholars, video game developers and other scholars have cited numerous studies to support possible benefits of video games. Video games have been hypothesized to promote ICT skills, to be critical motivational factors for sports training and formal education. In today’s IT age, video games and sophisticated computer simulations are being used in training to simulate real life situations such as in driving, combat and flight. In addition, it has been incorporated in formal education, and educators are using IT to promote learning. It is clear that it and video games forms an integral part of everyday activity of millions of kids in the United States and other countries. Understanding their impact on gamers, especially young gamers are critical in ensuring children are not victims of advancing technology.
